TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE FROM VIUCEDD
 
VIUCEDD provides a range of technical assistance services to the U.S. Virgin Islands Community. These technical assistance services are designed to strengthen the capacity for members of the community to increase their support of people with disabilities by strengthening. We accomplish our technical assistance goals through three the three primary channels of Advocacy, Capacity Building and Systems Change, and through the range of services noted below.
 
CONFERENCES:
 
VIUCEDD hosts yearly conferences on a range of topics related to people with disabilities. VIUCEDD hosts a yearly policy conference forum called Voices That Count, a disability policy forum related to the needs of people with disabilities across housing, employment, transportation, health and community living. We also host an annual Autism Conference which features national leaders sharing information on best practices related to Autism screening, diagnosis and treatment. VIUCEDD also hosts conferences related to Assistive Technology, Mental Health, Dyslexia, Deaf and Hard of Hearing Advocacy Conferences and on a range of topics across the disability spectrum.
 
CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT:
 
VIUCEDD works closely with the school of education at the University of the Virgin Islands as well as other departments to design and develop new curricular offerings and to enhance existing curriculum being offered out of the University of the Virgin Islands.
 
PUBLIC AWARENESS ACTIVITIES:
 
VIUCEDD provides technical assistance through a range of public awareness activities. These activities include the publication of Harambee, appearing on various radio and television programs and creating and disseminating materials to in promotion of best practices I the support of people with disabilities.
 
POLICY WORK:
 
VIUCEDD has historical been and is currently involved in a range of policy work with stakeholders throughout the U.S. Virgin Islands community. Policy initiatives include, but are not limited efforts to support the employment of people with disabilities, efforts to strengthen mental health outcomes for people with disabilities, issues surrounding the School to Prison Pipeline, transportation needs for people with disabilities and a range of other topics. Members of the Legislative and Executive branch our key partners in this work.
 
RESEARCH:
 
VIUCEDD is engaged in a range of ongoing research projects that when concluded will help to inform new training, policy and systems change activities in the U.S. Virgin Islands and across the nation.
 
TRAINING:
 
VIUCEDD offers a yearly CEU training series in relation to topics across the disability spectrum free of charge to members of the U.S. Virgin Island Community. We have provided training to members of the public school system, private psychological clinics, public day treatment and residential behavioral settings, hospitals, to policy makers, private families and a host of other agencies across the U.S. Virgin
Islands community. We offer targeted training on a range of topics across the disability spectrum, including, but not limited to:
