VIUCEDD - Research

The Virgin Islands Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (VIUCEDD) will conduct basic and applied research in education, community service and public policy that has direct effect on the lives of people with disabilities.  Some of the research that VIUCEDD will be involved in includes:

  • Surveying Public Attitudes Towards People With Disabilities

  • Assessing the Attitudes, Academic Training and Qualifications of Current School Personnel employed by the Virgin Islands Department of Education, to implement Inclusion in the Public Schools.

  • Assessing the Effectiveness of Graduates of the Early Childhood Education and School Psychology Programs of the University of the Virgin Islands.

  • On-going data collection of how many students are enrolled in both the public and private school sectors and the types of developmental disabilities that exist.

VIUCEDD intends to disseminate the findings of these research projects by writing and publishing articles, newsletters, a quarterly magazine, and other products that will be developed through alternative formats.
